To tackle rising unemployment and the growing vulnerability of Nigerian youths to crime and social vices, technology experts at the weekend rallied in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to drive a digital revolution aimed at empowering the next generation with cutting-edge skills in blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
The three-day Ibom Blockchain Summit 2025, held at Ibom Hall, Uyo, brought together over 4500 undergraduates and secondary school students for intensive training on Web3, decentralized finance (DeFi), and AI applications in business.
The summit, themed “The Odyssey,” served as a launchpad for positioning Akwa Ibom as a hub for blockchain innovation and economic transformation.
Chairman of the summit, Comrade Ukpono Esinwang in his remarks, informed participants that blockchain technology is not just a trend but a cornerstone of a new digital economy that Africa must lead.
He explained that the essence of establishing the BlockChain technology initiative, was to make Akwa Ibom state the hub for showcasing the inherent potentials abound in technology and their applications for business and other every day activities for growth, development and progress of the people and society.
In his words “Our journey began with a bold vision to make Akwa Ibom a blockchain innovation hub. Today, that vision is no longer a dream—it is a movement. Africa will not be left behind in the technological revolution”.

Country Manager, CoinEx recalled that the 2024 summit witnessed the participation of over 2,000 attendees and 15 industry experts, resulting in tangible success stories, while 2025 has witnessed over 4500 participants with several industries keying into it.
“A young developer who attended last year’s summit is now a full-time Web3 engineer. An entrepreneur who sat in these seats has launched a blockchain-powered business. A university student who once doubted this technology is now leading blockchain education initiatives on campus. These stories prove that we are not just consumers of technology, we are builders, creators, and innovators”.he said.
He urged participants to take advantage of the limitless opportunities that blockchain technology provides in financial inclusion, business automation, and digital security.
Other speakers, including Senator Iheyen of Infusion Lawyers, highlighted the transformative power of technology in shaping global economies. He urged participants to apply their knowledge to drive business efficiency, enhance digital transactions, and create self-sustaining employment opportunities.
Speaking on Web3 Careers: Building Globally, Felix Chisom, outlined the diverse career paths in blockchain development, smart contracts, and tokenization.
On AI, Lucie Ekong delivered an insightful presentation on A.I: A Tool for Economic Optimization and Efficient Delivery,”. The speaker enlightened participants on how AI can revolutionize business models and boost efficiency in various sectors.
The event also featured interactive workshops, real-world case studies, panel sessions, a special “Designing the Future” segment on UI/UX storytelling in blockchain, various cultural performances, music, the Culture night- featuring a blend of Delicacies and Cultural performance, and a tour around the City of Uyo.
